A semantic and functional realisation of the static-dynamic dualism, implemented in a smartwatch concept.
DUALIS
4th Semester project
Task: Choose a dualism and a product. Select one part of the dualism, or both, and transfer it semantically to your product. Also, think about functions that fit to your chosen dualism.
Realize your project in CAD and animate your product.

Step 1: Define the target audience and application areas
DISPLAY = DYNAMIC  You can seperate it from the wristband and unfold it. Thanks to different possibilities of    wearing you can adapt the smartwatch to different sports.
WRISTBAND = STATIC  It stays on your wrist and measures preciesely vital data. The informations are send via    bluetooth to the display, which shows them while doing sports.
Step 2: Research
Step 3: Technical research

Flexible and foldable screens were not as widespread at the time the project began as they are today (such as the Samsung Flip smartphone). Nevertheless, the integration of this technology offered exciting possibilities in the smartwatch sector. For this reason, a foldable display was integrated.

Step 4: Creating Concepts
Keep it simple!
The display should be able to be folded twice, which would triple the screen area. First of all, various sketches were made. These were then tested using 1:1 paper models.
Step 5: CAD Modelling
After building the CAD model, I worked on it further in Keyshot, choosing materials and colours.

Wristband

Sensors on the underside of the wristband measure the user's vital signs and transmit the information to the display via Bluetooth.

I decided to create three different colour combinations to fulfill individual preferences.
All combinations reflect the dualism dynamic-static semantically.
